My birthday’s just around the corner. This year, it’s not actually on a day you want to celebrate it because it falls on a Black Saturday and most people in our neighborhood (well our family is) wants to just keep their Holy Week, well, holy. I am not expecting a big celebration. My mom’s just preparing food to share with my titos, titas and cousins. And a bit of swimming too.
For me, it’s a 4-day rejuvenation week. To catch up on TV shows, books, travel posts and more stories to tell. And let me start this story-telling weekend with a little treat from the university that helped shaped me into becoming who I am today.
Arrived in mail today.
I love it. It’s true that it takes a long time to grow young. Very appropriate quote for a birthday card. I appreciate what they did here, and I hope fellow Lasallians get the same greeting card too.
Animo La Salle!
Happy weekend, folks! I hope you have a blessed one. Stay safe!
I found my book! Yay! It’s been here in my room all along. I guess my dad left it here weeks ago when I told him I left it in the car.
It’s been three months without any progress in my books-to-read list. Which by the way includes:
Dance with Dragons (G.R.R. Martin)
Face to Face (Bianca Valerio)
The Secret Shopper’s Revenge (Kate Harrison)
and a whole lot more
These are just the books I’ve started reading. I have no plans of starting the Secret Shopper’s Revenge actually. It’s just that I lost my Dance with Dragons for a while back there.
I’m also reading (again) Catching Fire because of Liam Hemsworth’s recent visit here in the Philippines. I was picturing a very different look for Gale (Hemsworth’s character in the movie ‘Hunger Games’) before the movie came out. And now, I try to imagine LH both as Peeta and Gale. With Liam there, everything’s so much better.
It’s been months since my last book purchase. Well, an exception would be this one mini-book that I consider to be part of my Summit Books Modern Fiction collection – the third installment for ‘Vince’s Life’ because 1) it’s on sale 2) I lent my copy to a previous co-worker 3) it’s on sale.
I think that’s about all the non-sense update about my books list. Haha. I promised myself to read 30 books this year. And so far, I have finished z-e-r-o. Hopefully I can finish at least one before my birthday. Do you think I should count the to-read-again books too?
It’s definitely the time to start managing my time. But it’s too difficult to say no to a long afternoon of TV shows marathon. Or a long hours of doing nothing. But this has to stop!!! So if I cannot keep up, maybe my phone and data plan could help me. Haha!
It’s been a whole since I posted here. I’ve been really preoccupied with work and adjustments (it’s taking me a very long time to adjust) that it’s hard to find time to write and update everything that needs updating. But I’d like to share something with you guys. My siblings are looking for old photos to put in picture frames for the new house and they put up this photo of me and my older sister. This has been one of my most favorite photos ever. We look so innocent and cute here! This was when we were still in Saudi Arabia.
I feel really bad for neglecting my blog for a few months now. I was really really really busy with work, the old AND new.
I was in a transition phase for the past months and my projects with my previous job is keeping me from updating. Everything’s in my draft bin, I just haven’t found time to proof-read everything.
Anyway, just to give you a quick update and to also give you an idea of what you might be seeing here in a couple of weeks, after the January trip, we:
- went to Boracay in February
- tried Toastbox in Greenbelt 5
- tried Hong Kong Cafe in SM MOA
- tried Mr. Kimbob in SM Southmall
- ate at Mary Grace Greenbelt 1 (my first time actually)
- went to Cebu-Bohol last May
- went to Cebu-Bohol last weekend
Crazy right? I still have to finish the Road trip series. I will as soon as my adjustment period ends. Stay tuned! Kiss kiss mwah.
Day 7 was not the most interesting day because we were too sad and depressed to even move our butts and make the most out of it. It’s like we easily surrendered to the fact that we’re going home, back to the arms of our day jobs, back once again to reality.
Bear with me as I slowly say goodbye to our epic 2011 trip.
I might be posting pictures during down times (aka my ‘missing Korea’ moments. Maybe not. But I’m pretty sure I will.
One thing’s for sure: WE’LL DEFINITELY GO BACK HERE. We’ll create more memories, take more pictures, see friends, meet new people, explore more places, eat a lot and fall in love all over again.
(Photos taken by me and Kizia. Photo editing by me)
To show you how much I love this Palace, here are amazing photos for your consumption (so formal!)
Thank God for the awesome weather during our Day 3. Everything’s so picturesque!
(Dear Kizia, I am not a fan of slanted photos but I LOVE what you did here ^)
You can sense that the place has a very dramatic feel about it. I was so affected with the story shared to us by our guide Nana the day before. Maybe that is why I felt so sad and emotional when we returned here.
(This is going to be a long post. Read with caution hehe)
I seriously believe that the world will end in 2012. No offense to others, but I just like to believe that this event I saw in a movie will happen to convince myself to take chances, do things, explore new places and see new faces this year. And well, do my resolutions. Have you written down yours? Well, mine is longer than last year. But before we go there, let me have this opportunity to go over very special events and highlights last year that kept me sane and crazy at the same time. These are the events and opportunities that I am very much thankful for I know I’m a few days late but hey, it’s now or never right?

Here’s a video made by my good friend Kizia about our group’s 2011 highlights:
Remembering these moments made me realize how much I’ve accomplished last year. It’s funny because I remember telling myself “You’ve been so busy with work, you don’t have time for yourself, your friends or family” but just by looking at these, who’s kidding who?
So based on these accomplishments, I came up with my resolutions for 2012. But here’s a summary of it:
SAVE. Save up for the future!
SHARE. Help others. Share happiness. Share knowledge.
TRAVEL. Take every opportunity for travelling. See the world.
LEARN. Learn a new dance. Learn a new language. Read more books. Learn to be more girly.
LIVE. Be healthy! Be happy! Update personal journal. Create a travel journal.
It’s basically the same as last year, only it’s more detailed this time (it’s written in my journal. If you want a full list, let me know! haha!).
I feel good about the coming days. I am looking forward to experiencing 2012. And I can’t wait to experience 2012 with a blast!
